Memory Loss

I think Jay must have encountered The Operator before he even posted "Introduction". Think about it. The Operator made Jay and Jessica lose their memories. So we know the operator has some way of doing this.

When Jay was first going through the tapes Alex gave him, he didn't remember entries 17 and 20 which he was actually in himself. I think something must have happened between the time Alex gave Jay the tapes and when Jay decided to look through them. He was too unnerved to watch them then he eventually FORGOT about them. I think the operator had something to do with him forgetting about those tapes as well as the events on the tapes themselves.

That is an interesting theory. The part where Jay FORGOT has always bothered me a bit. How are you going to forget about those tapes after it took him so long to convince Alex to give them to him... This is a well founded train of thought.

So chronologically, Entry #20 took place before Entry #15. In Entry #20 Alex, Tim, and Jay were together. So obviously Jay and Tim met. Yet in Entry #15, they were talking as if they just met for the first time. "uh Jay right?"

Now, I have a theory that Jay encountered the operator prior to even creating the YouTube channel and he made Jay lose his memory. That would explain him not only forgetting Tim but also the events that took place in the entries and forgetting about the tapes themselves.

Now that would explain why Jay forgot about Tim. But do you think Tim also lost his memory? Was he pretending he never met Jay before? If so, why?
I'm thinking maybe Tim lost his memory during the events in Entry #51.

Tim losing his memories during Entry 51 seems more plausible. I don't think Jay has encountered the Operator prior to creating the Youtube channel though.

As for Entry 15, you have to realize this is about 3 or so years after Marble Hornets was being recorded and Jay and Tim weren't as close as, say, Joseph and Tim. So, Tim would have trouble remembering Jay's name. Plus, since he's Masky, the Operator had interacted with him (Season 2 finale) but Jay has had no such encounter until he started watching the tapes.

Looks like Entry #71 confirms what I said.
During the distortion, you can see that Alex has Jay pinned to the ground and Jay is looking up. I think he's looking up at the operator. Also, the way Jay was laid out on the ground at the end of Entry #71 is a lot like how he was laid out on the floor at the end of Entry #52 when he got his memory messed with.
